2025.05.02 & 2025.05.03 – 2025 Pacific Northwest Geotechnical Graduate Student Symposium at Portland State<\/b>
Portland State hosted Oregon State University and the University of Washington geotechnical students for this 2-day event! Friday afternoon and evening consisted of a site tour of the Burnside Bridge. An enormous thank you to Stacy Thomas (HDR), Beth Britell (Multnomah County), Sam Sideras (Shannon & Wilson), and Carly Clark (HDR) for taking the time to help us organize the tour and talking us through the massive undertaking that is the Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge project!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour was followed by a poster session, where over 10 different companies attended and learned about the research happening throughout the Pacific Northwest. Saturday consisted of technical and small-group sessions designed to increase networking skills, highlight effective presentation techniques, and facilitate inter-university communication on shared topics such as laboratory research or field work.<\/p>\n\n\n

2024.05.17 & 18 – 2024 Northwest Geotechnical Graduate Student Symposium<\/b>
PSU GIGSO members attended the 2024 Northwest Geotechnical Graduate Student Symposium at Oregon State University on May 17 and 18, 2024. Student members Chelle, Benyamin, Amir, and Kayla presented their research to other graduate students from Oregon State University and the University of Washington.

Students toured the ongoing Van Buren Bridge Project, Oregon State University’s O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory (including the large wave flume, the directional wave basin, and strong floor structural research laboratory), and the Oregon State University geotechnical field research site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
