Lab News
Each graduate student is working on fascinating research! From the PSU geotechnical field site in NE Portland, to testing in the graduate student laboratory, to running scale-model tests at the Center for Geotechnical Modeling at UC Davis using the geotechnical centrifuges – our students are continuing to advance the field of geotechnical engineering.
Outreach
From lab tours to high school and prospective transfer students, to helping children create earthquakes on Bring Your Child to Work day, our students consider participating in outreach vital for sharing the importance of geotechnical engineering and civil engineering as a whole.
Presentations
Whether presenting on their research, results from laboratory testing, or on other outreach events, our students have had several opportunities to present within the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Seminars
Every month a guest lecturer comes to speak to our students on various topics relating to geotechnical engineering.
Symposiums
Each year PSU geotechnical graduate students collaborate with other universities within the Pacific Northwest for the Northwest Geotechnical Graduate Student Symposium. Additionally, Portland State has started our own Graduate Geotechnical Student Symposium which showcases their research to local industry professionals.
